Climate Smart Agriculture
Climate Smart Agriculture Solutions for Smallholder Farmers

This project is designed to create a sustainable pathway to higher income for 1,500–1,700 small farmers in Sohag and Minya, ensuring greater economic stability and resilience. By combining climate-smart extension services, access to in-kind agricultural credit, and improved marketing opportunities, the initiative empowers farmers to adopt modern, climate-smart practices and achieve long-term growth.
The project aims to address key policy issues to strengthen farmers’ resilience, livelihood and food security. Key policy issues include misalignment of credit products with farmers’ needs, poor access to output markets, lack of and ineffective agricultural extension services and need for climate-smart agriculture practices.
The project will test whether customized credit products can encourage farmers to invest in climate-smart inputs, thereby amplifying the benefits of credit. The program will also examine the added value of pairing these tailored credit options with contract farming opportunities and climate-focused digital agricultural extension services to support long-term income growth.
