Solar-Powered Water Pumping Solutions
Solar-Powered Water Pumping Solutions

In Egypt’s Eastern Desert, local indigenous tribes — including the Ababda and Bishariya communities — depend primarily, and in many cases exclusively, on groundwater wells as their source of water. Recognizing the critical importance of water access in this arid region, this project was launched to provide sustainable, solar-powered water pumping solutions to ensure a reliable and environmentally friendly water supply.
The water sourced through these systems serves two main purposes:
- Providing safe drinking water for local communities.
- Supporting livestock, which represents a cornerstone of livelihoods in the region.
To ensure long-term sustainability, the project also incorporates a capacity-building component, training members of the local communities to operate and maintain the solar-powered systems effectively.
